Let's be Eco-sustainAble, towards 2030
"Let's be Eco-sustainAble"is a result of cooperation of 6 countries. The partnership’s aim is to reduce the number of students endangered of risk of early school leaving, through a set of innovative and attractive activities concerning the several aspects of sustainable living .Even if we come from different backgrounds and we teach in different countries, we daily observe similar learning barriers among our students, no matter the type of school they attend; and we daily struggle to devise innovative strategies and approaches to better succeed in our educational mission. Pedagogical studies demonstrate that learning about natural environment through the concept of “action-centred learning”, pupils are motivated to learn and display a proactive attitude in their communities. The project title tells the pupils to BE ABLE to set in motion “ECO-actions” that will involve community and have repercussions on the future, holding the concept of SUSTAINABILITY itself. Whoever we are, the environment we live is something to respect. Beauty and Health of a place with a human dimension help us feel good physically and psychologically, and in human relationships, in small places and globally. The exchange of ideas and good practices is an enrichment, which helps to improve oneself, and find personal and aware solutions to conflicts. That is why sustainable tourism is a development strategy which protect places, memories knowledge and craftsmanship, make each Country a unique place, where generations of people met along centuries of civilization Economy impacts on society and environment. Income and work are necessary for sustainable sustenance of people, through the rational and efficient use of resources. Society requires institutions’ involvement and their role in the change of democratic and participatory systems, with equal conditions and opportunities (safety, health, education, free time) equally distributed among social strata, age, genders. Environmental sustainability requires awareness of Nature’s fragility, and the impact human activities and decisions on ecosystems. We want to exploit our different know-how and good practices to design, test, validate and implement Eco-Sustainability in Europe. It will enable students with different background and future to be main actors in their learning process. It involves a lot of non-formal teaching and learning to help reduce student anxiety for school performance and is inclusive for all students, regardless of social or academic background. The theme leads to acquire various skills that can contribute to understand ecosystems, biodiversity, green energy, landscape, and a sense of belonging and responsibility towards local heritage, which can become elements of guidance to job and following studies. Direct experience, research in the area as a chance for technical and practical activities, consolidation of knowledge, sources, direct contact with the natural good, critical revision will help to grasp the size of common good and identity. 4 Groups are influenced by the activities and results of the Project: students of the participating institutions, expert teachers about ,ICT, English; students’ parents, local community, local and European authorities, local schools, learning centres, universities where students continue their education.
According to the theme, we want to: -Increase the sense of belonging to biological and cultural environment, for a physical wellness, a place for enjoyment and entertainment, and a source of economic wealth -Recognize natural environment as an inherited common good to transmit for a sustainable future -Develop pathways of reflection and experience to know and understand the area as a common heritage, so that young people interact with institutions production entities and cultural ones for the detection of cognitive actions and training Transnational meetings will motivate teachers and students, as they’ll contribute to both the 'smart growth'- improving levels of education and training- and the 'inclusive growth'- by acting on one of the main risk factors of social exclusion In the short-term exchanges students will be hosted in families. They’ll get the opportunity to travel abroad, meet new people and learn about new cultures and foreign languages, practice English and other foreign languages learnt at school We believe good practices of regions and their specific social groups will be the best way to let students feel involved in their future choices, be aware of the importance of their actions for their best wellness and welfare as adult citizens, as well as to implement multiculturalism and fight racism and xenophobia. It will also invite Europe to respond to the social, political, and economic challenges of the work sector. Project and its results are universal, can be used by any educational institution, and can be used separately without the loss of any vital result of the Project. Project will last in all partnership institution for a few years and every year its potential will grow.
